Did you know: 12,82 Euro minimum wage: Earnings limit for mini-jobs rises to €556
Minimum income threshold: How the earnings threshold for mini-jobs is calculated
The earnings limit for mini-jobs determines how much a mini-jobber can earn on average per month. It is dynamic and depends on the minimum wage. If the statutory minimum wage increases, the earnings limit for mini-jobs also increases. The maximum monthly earnings (minor earnings threshold) for mini-jobs are calculated based on a working time of ten hours per week. The following formula is used to convert this weekly value into a monthly value: Earnings limit = minimum wage x 130/3. The result is rounded to the nearest euro. The following calculation applies for 2025: Earnings limit = 12.82 euros x 130/3 = 555.53 euros, rounded up to 556 euros.
Our tip: For employers, the increase in the earnings limit may mean that they have to adjust their employment contracts. This is because if the employment contract does not stipulate that the statutory minimum wage or even a higher hourly wage must be paid, the hourly wage of the mini-jobber must be adjusted accordingly.
Increased minimum wage results in new lower limit for entry-level midi jobs
The transitional area known as a midi job begins with a regular monthly salary above the marginal earnings threshold and ends at 2,000 euros per month. As part of the adjustment of the marginal earnings threshold through an increase in the minimum wage, a midi job will start in 2025 from an income of 556.01 euros per month (2024: 538.01 euros).
